Remote jobs are a luxury. Imagine yourself sitting at the top of a mountain and enjoying the most beautify view with a great scent of fresh air throbbing your heart!!

YEAH, you get it ! and you FEEL IT.

And now, for the hard part.

How and where can you land a remote job with the flexibility you soo dearly desire.

While you go and search on all of your favorite job sites for the remote jobs of your skill set and you also see about 1000+ applicants for each job.

There goes your dream of landing your remote job.

BUT here is the catch, when there are so many applicants who want the same job as you, you need to start thinking what is that SPECIAL SKILL your future employer needs and how can you work to attain it.

Well, here is the secret, YOUR Remote presentation skills are the key to help you get hired into the position.

And I am not talking about how you behave during the regular zoom calls you have with your remote family back in Asia or Africa or Latin America. I am talking about real PROFESSIONAL skills and the way to present it while you are being on video calls to your potential team.

No employer in the entire world can offer you a job if they dont trust you. Trust can not be build remotely. Specially if you are to join a company as a remote new hire. If your employer believes that they dont trust your presentation skills and your authentic self that you present during the interviews, they will likely not pass you during the interviews.

During my 15+ years of career in Tech, and taking many online and on-site interviews, I often look for one specific skill “ AUTHENTICITY”. I often ask myself, if the candidate is presenting his true self or SOME learned behavior with some sense of false polished behavior that they may have dreamed of. And this becomes even more crucial when a candidate is applying for working remote.

So, learn how to say “I dont know” to questions you dont know the answers to. And learn how to say it un “Authentic” manner that a employer can trust on.

This is the only skill you need to land a remote job. Show your true , most authentic self, during onsite-virtual loops, and you are sure to land the job.

P.S.

Every job has some basic technical and educational requirements, so I would suggest you need to match to those first rather just apply for one. Once you find a remote job posting that matches your skill sets, then you can apply for the job and practice your authentic self for the interviews.
